About Us

WHO we are:

  • The Europe and Eurasia team advances member companies' business interests in Europe, including the 27 member states of the European Union (EU), Eastern and South Eastern Europe, Russia, Central Asia, the Caucasus and Black Sea regions.  Our efforts foster a stable and growing transatlantic economic relationship, promote a pro-business agenda and help generate new business opportunities across the region.
  • We serve companies with a stake in the largest economic relationship in the world, the relationship between the U.S. and Europe.  We help companies with challenges, whether they be in the more mature European markets or in the new frontiers of Central Asia.
  • In addition to a dedicated staff in Washington, DC, the Europe and Eurasia team includes a European branch office in Brussels, Belgium and representatives in Berlin, Germany; Athens, Greece; and Moscow, Russia.
  • Our federation includes 42 affiliated American Chambers of Commerce in Europe and Eurasia who serve as the local "voice of American business".  AmCham Directory

WHAT we do:

  • Advocate for the negotiation of a new-type U.S.-EU regulatory cooperation agreement.  Recognizing that the U.S. and EU regulate proceedings from similar objectives and values, the growing interdependence of our economies now requires systematic, transparent and consistent work by U.S. and European rule-makers that fully takes into account transatlantic commercial interests.  Transatlantic Cooperation
  • Track and influence the outcome of regulatory developments in Europe which impact our member companies both in the U.S. and Europe.  Key European regulatory issues include competition policy, chemicals evaluation and registration, consumer protection rules, environment and energy policies, intellectual property and patents, the EU services market, capital markets and the European business legal environment.
  • Provide access, intelligence and a means to help shape U.S. and foreign government policies in the challenging emerging economies of Eurasia, through our "Eurasia Business Platform" (EBP).  The promotion of the creation of a reliable international transit regime for goods across the vast Eurasian continent is a key component of the EBP.  Eurasia Business Platform  - AmCham Survey - EBP Update 2007 - Secure trade Mechanisms Study
  • Engage the Russian business community, consumers, government authorities and enforcement officials emphasizing the importance of protecting intellectual property rights and linking IPR protection to Russia's ability to develop a world-class market economy.
